Privacy, in plain words.
Version 1.0 · Updated 29 September 2026
Swearless is provided by Marouane Tlig and is available on the App Store. Contact hello@minipaint.space for Swearless privacy questions.
Your conversations stay on your iPhone
You choose when a microphone session starts. Speech is processed on device with Apple’s speech frameworks. Swearless does not save audio or conversation transcripts and does not send them to a Swearless server. A speech-model download may require an internet connection to Apple.
What the app keeps
The local database contains your optional display name, preferences, selected words and alternatives, detected or manually logged words and times, session durations, context tags, reflections and rehearsal plan. These records can reveal personal habits. They remain until you remove them or delete the app’s data. The core habit database stays on device. Optional AI Coach uses an anonymous server account and usage counters as described below; it does not sync your full habit history.
Optional AI Coach
When AI Coach is available, you choose whether to enable it before sending a request. A selected summary can include tracked word counts, context tags, monitored minutes, your goal, onboarding obstacle, saved practice phrase and any question you type. Our backend, a Supabase Edge Function, processes the request and OpenAI generates the suggestion. Microphone audio, conversation transcripts, your name and reflection notes are not sent automatically. Avoid private names or sensitive information in typed questions or saved phrases.
The app creates an anonymous Supabase Auth account for your device, without an email address or name, and keeps its session tokens in your device Keychain. The same account identifier is used with RevenueCat to check subscription access. Supabase stores memories you explicitly save: your goal, coaching style, reported triggers, preferred phrases, exercises and helpfulness feedback, and your accepted challenge. Generated goal/challenge proposals are stored pending acceptance and expire after 24 hours. We do not store chat history, prompts or AI answers in our database. Up to six recent typed chat messages and selected saved memories are included in each AI request. Daily usage counters (day, request type and count) are kept for about 31 days. Coach responses are cached on your device. Supabase and OpenAI infrastructure logs may contain technical request metadata such as IP address. The Supabase project is shared with another app by the same developer; Swearless records live in separate tables that only the Swearless backend and your own account can read.
Requests use encrypted connections and OpenAI response storage is disabled. OpenAI does not train on API data by default, but abuse-monitoring data may be retained for up to 30 days or longer where required. We do not promise zero retention. See OpenAI data controls and Supabase privacy. View, correct or forget saved memories in Coach → Coach memory. Disable sharing or delete your Coach data and cached answers in Profile → Privacy. Deleting removes your saved memories, pending proposals and usage counters and signs the device out; the empty anonymous account record remains in Supabase Auth and is not linked to you. Provider logs follow their retention rules. Deletion does not cancel an Apple subscription.
Optional Sign in with Apple
You can sign in with Apple from Profile → Privacy to keep your Coach memory, accepted challenges and subscription when you change iPhones. We store the Apple user identifier for Swearless, the email address Apple shares (usually a private relay address), and a Swearless-only subscription identifier derived from the Apple identifier. Your word history, sessions and reflections stay on your iPhone and are not uploaded. The sign-in is verified by our backend and is not shared with any other app, even from the same developer. Signing out removes the link from the device; “Delete Coach data and unlink Apple sign-in” removes the link and your Coach data from our database. Deleting does not cancel an Apple subscription.
Your controls
You can deny microphone access and use manual logging. Stop listening from the monitoring screen. You can change microphone permission in iPhone Settings, correct entries in Word history, export your records, or choose Delete all my data in Profile → Privacy. Deletion resets the local Swearless database; it cannot erase copies you exported or device backups. Apple device backups may include app data depending on your settings.
Subscriptions and purchase information
Swearless uses RevenueCat to check subscription access. RevenueCat processes purchase records, subscription status, an app user identifier and technical information needed to deliver purchase services. Apple processes App Store payments under its own policies. Swearless does not send your selected words, audio, reflections or rehearsal text to RevenueCat. Purchase records are separate from your local habit database; deleting local data does not cancel a subscription or delete Apple’s or RevenueCat’s purchase records. Manage renewal through your App Store account. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy. Development builds may use simulated purchases. TestFlight purchases use Apple’s testing environment; the App Store release uses real purchases.
No advertising SDK
This build contains no advertising, attribution or analytics SDK. If a future version adds advertising measurement, it will ask for permission first and this notice will be updated beforehand.
Sharing and support
Exports and weekly reports are shared only when you choose a destination using the iOS share sheet. That destination then handles the file under its own policies. If you submit beta feedback through TestFlight, Apple processes the information you choose to submit and may provide feedback or diagnostics to the developer. Avoid sharing private conversations.
Support correspondence
If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include. We use it to respond to your request and retain it only as needed to resolve support matters and meet legal obligations. Do not send private recordings or sensitive habit records.
This website
The interactive phrase preview runs in your browser without microphone access, cookies or persistent storage. Selecting a phrase does not send it to us. If you choose Keep my phrase, the site creates a text file for you to download. The site contains no advertising pixel, sign-up form or app-data upload. We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand anonymous page visits, referrers, broad country, browser, device and operating-system information. Vercel Web Analytics does not use cookies and does not create a cross-site visitor profile. Vercel also hosts the site and may process request information such as IP address, browser information and technical logs to deliver and secure it. See Vercel’s privacy notice. Links to Apple and research publishers open services with their own policies.
Audience and changes
Swearless is a general habit tool, not a children’s service or medical treatment. Its word catalog includes explicit language. Privacy details will be revised if the app’s data handling changes. For privacy requests, contact hello@minipaint.space and mention Swearless. We cannot retrieve the habit records stored only on your iPhone. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct or delete information you send us, and to complain to your local privacy authority.
Onboarding, reminders and widgets
Your chosen situations, goals, obstacles, optional seven-day estimate and practice phrase are stored on your iPhone. If you enable AI Coach, a selected subset may be shared as described above. They personalise your starting plan and the subscription message; they do not change prices and are not sent to RevenueCat. The estimate is not a diagnosis or a measured trend. Optional daily reminders are scheduled locally and contain no tracked words or counts. Widgets can show your saved phrase, recorded count, target and monitoring summary from a shared on-device snapshot. Consider what you want visible on your Home or Lock Screen. Listening allowance is calculated from local session time.
